Watercolors, French girls, sociopathy

Finally, some new stuff. Here are some girlie watercolors I did tonight.

I've been in a big drawing rut for a while now, but forced myself to draw while I watched this French 70's movie, "Don't Deliver Us From Evil." I've wanted to get away from just drawing girls, but the two main actresses were too cool looking not to draw. Here are some Post-It drawings of Anne (Jeanne Goupil), a long-limbed sociopathic school girl. She's not always this deadpan in the movie.

Also, a warning- while this movie is interesting to watch, I had a hard time getting through it because of some disturbing themes, and some really horrible treatment towards animals. I really don't deal well with that type of thing. So if you're sensitive about that sort of thing, maybe skip this one. Part of me would like to re-watch the movie and do some more drawings of the other main actress as well, but I'm not sure that'll happen anytime soon.

Here's one more watercolor, which I saved for last because it's pretty sloppy and I didn't want it at the top with the other stuff.

Thanks again for coming back!

Great stuff! I like them all, but I actually like the bottom "sloppy" one the best! Very cool, loose style - I love it!

Hmm. Drawing while watching films? That's a really good approach to flex the ol' art muscles. May have to pick up the practise myself.

Thanks guys! That's how it always goes...the one I'm least confident about turns out to be the one other people like. I suppose that's why we have blogs though- for feedback. :)

I don't meant to toot your horn too much Katie, but you are the best! I'm so happy about your newest explorations in paint.
I just watched Don't Deliver Us From Evil and you've got the Anne's character nailed.
...although, her bangs could use a little more crookedness ;)
hehe, i'm teasing.
post more!

What you refer to as sloppiness at the bottom is definitely a really excellent beautiful organic work. There are elements in that last one there that tonnes of people struggle to capture in watercolour.
