2007, Ye-ye girl drawings and post-its

Here's a bunch of drawings from when I went through a 60's Ye-ye girl phase. I did a lot of them, so they get their own post.

France Gall.

Sylvie Vartan.

Francoise Hardy.

None of these are that accurate, but the Francoise Hardy drawings look especially off to me now. She's very beautiful, but I didn't really capture it. I ought to give it another try.

Oh, as an extra, here are some you tube links of these girls. It's fun to hear France and Sylvie say "poupee" over and over again.

France Gall - Poupee De Cire, Poupee De Son
Sylvie Vartan - Jolie Poupee
Francoise Gardy- Tous Les Garcons Et Les Filles

They could have had one of these as a musical guest star on the original Scooby Doo show and it would've been cute. (Just a random thought, sorry.) I love these drawings and it would be cool to see you do more someday. You've gotten better at drawing. Again randomly, I love the backgrounds or stage decor for some of the old videos they'd make or some of the old TV performances.

These were some of my favourite drawings from when you first posted them, Katie, as I'm also a fan of 60's French pop. (Of course, I'm still hoping to see your take on Bardot sometime!) Incidentally, if you're taking requests for re-posting art, I'd love to see those cute and poignant drawings of your high school friends again. There was something particularly sweet and heartwarming about those sketches. Your work is always delightful!

Bah! They look great! Much better than when I tried to do them...ages ago. At least you captured Syvlie's adorable little gap-teeth and her pouty mouth and Francoise's elegant swan neck.
