So my flu turned into bronchitis. Yeah!!! Awesome loads of fun. Needless to say new drawings are not anything I wanna do right now. So you get OLD stuff! But don't despair...as there is a
If you can't tell, I want you to click those links!! I'm sick, do me a favor! (whine, bitch, moan) Also, I have a question for people at the bottom...please read it and and tell me what you think!
First off is some layouts I did for "Ren and Stimpy, APC" from back in 2002 or so. These below are a scene from "Ren Seeks Help."
I need to add that these are off of John's amazing roughs, and also Fred Osmond (our layout supervisor) gave me lots of help on all my layouts. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if some of the lines on these are Fred's or John's and not mine.

Another "Ren Seeks Help" scene

This title card for "Firedogs 2" is based off of an amazing Eddie Fitzgerald storyboard drawing.

I wish I had Eddie's drawing, I'd love to post it here! Man, I have hardly anything from working on this show. Note that the famous Ralph signed my layout!!
Here are some super generic girls I did for "Altruists."
Girl with beaver-tail bikini.
Girl with buttless chinchilla coat (the author does NOT approve of chinchilla coats by the way!! See HERE).
These aren't from any specific project, just drawings I like that I did during and after APC.

Wow my stuff was different back then. These next ones might be from 2003?

I like some of my old drawings more than the ones I do now.

Wow, I really have hardly anything from any of the projects I've worked on. I tried digging up some stuff from the Weird Al video I worked on, but John has everything and I never got copies!

This drawing above is actually a mix of my drawing and John's.

OK!!!!!!!!!! This is where I need your guys' help!!! I need money right now so I was thinking of selling some crap. I recently dug up about 30 or so inks that I did from 2002-2004. Here are two questions:
1. Will people buy them even though they're just inks? They're not perfect- some have white-out, paper wrinkles, etc.
2. I have a whole bunch of them, so if I DO sell them, should I sell them in bunches? Like in packs of 5, or 10?
Here are some examples of the inks I want to part with.

What do you guys think?? Is it worth the hassle of doing the eBay thing? Does anyone want stuff like this? Sell them individually or in groups??
Please leave your opinions, and let me know what you think of my old stuff too!
Thanks guys!
*cough*

Bronchitis is the one where you cough up blood right? :C
get well.
Holy crap!! No blood in my case...just pain and extreme medicine head. Thanks though, I hope I get better soon too!
new drawings or not, you've included some fabulous stuff here. i just got my own tablet and have started posting my first shots at it! you guys provide all the inspiration!!!!!
aw get well soon katie ;_;
My sister just got over broncitis too! Blub! Nice drawings Katie! Get well soon!
These are all great! I love drawings that are simply inked, that way the focus is on forms and shapes and line work (the wrinkles and white-out ads charm). I think you'll have bags of money and gobs of cash if you put these up on Ebay.
^^
I think you are thinking of Tuberculosis. Bronchitis is bad...... but not that bad!
BTW Katie, I love your stuff! I have been scouring though all your old blogs for a while. Love the new comics, I will be following Skadi and her adventures. You and Kali are my new obsessions ;-)
Hope you get well soon! Bronchitis sucks!
Hooraaay a nice long story with Skadi unfolds! And what a cute sacrifice! Oh the suspense is killing me...
As always, LOVE your art! You draw such pretty girls. I love the bucktoothed girl from Close But No Cigar the most!
I'd totally buy inks like that, too, especially if they came in a pack!
Smokey Girl's beanie is awesome.
That is all.
You should totally put them on sale and include like... a free ball of lint and an autographed something.
Get better soon!
Your ailment that is, not your drawing... which is AWESOME!!
I wish I had a billion dollars so I could buy all that stuff. You still need to make a book, dude. What happened with that?
- trevor.
Hi, I'm a big fan of your art and I would definitely try to get it on Ebay. If you do list them on Ebay, put a link on your blog cuz I'll bid on it!!!
Also, hope you get well soon!
i'm definitely interested in buying drawings. maybe packs of 3?
you'd probably make a fortune on ebay but if you sell them personally through email and paypal i'll buy a drawing(s).
feel better!
Hey Katie, just letting you know, that even though eBay has TONS of people on all the time, I think Etsy ( http://www.etsy.com/ ) is more artist friendly.
Etsy is basically eBay, but for handmade stuff, exclusively. On eBay, I think it'd be unlikely for someone to happen upon your art if they didn't read your blog already. On Etsy, people are already looking for stuff like this.
I don't think you can auction though, so think about it before you decide.
I say sell them on Ebay, anything of yours is gold and your art from the past is like unlocking DaVinci's vault. Happy Ebaying! :D
Hi Katie and every other cartoon fan.
Do you remember my cartoon of the cat on a plane which was dedicated to John K?
Well, the animation portal mytoons has selected it as part of the promotion of their new HD format. About 30 short flims were chosen among thousands from all the world.
Now the cat-cartoon is on a contest to be aired on the Times Square of NY.
If you think that this kitty deserves to be on the Big Apple, you can vote for him EVERY HOUR here.
Search it as "Gatin A Bordo (Kitty on Board)"
The contest close this week, so...please hurry!!
Thanks,
Carlo Guillot
I sincerely hope you get better soon, it sucks when you get one of those bad ass diseases.
About your stuff on sale, I think I would have enough money to buy just one of your drawings, being sold at the price they should, expensive. My point is, you´ll always have lots of fans who would pay anything for your amazing art. To me, nothing would be more fantastic than having one of your inks with its paper wrinkles and all. I mean, you´re like my hero and inspiration, if I could acquire one of your doodles, I would certainly die in peace, and I know I´m not the only one that thinks like that. So, the question is not how much will we pay, but how much do you want to earn.
About your old stuff, I can tell is fantastic, and sorta experimental, those kind of doodles are the ones that gave me a reason to believe in shape and color. The things I´ve seen lately here, seem to have a common structure, but all of them are so complete, it seems that you can create a masterpiece just by pure will, I think that´s what happen when you develope a style, and that is so hard to achieve. However, is always good to stay in touch with your old drawings, as I said, yours are pure gold, and I would love to see more o those paper colored doodles, I just can´t describe the tickles that I feel when I see them.
You´re doing it great, keep on posting, I certainly love your posts.
Have you watched 'Antiques Roadshow'? Wrinkles and white-out can sometimes make the pic!
I'm sure people will buy, I too need money so unfortunately I can't put my hand up at this stage.
But I'm friggin' bursting inside to want to!)
I'm sorry to hear you under the weather.
Amazing Layout Posing!
I came on the tale end of Ren Seeks Help at Carbunkle (I was a sheet-timer).
Too bad it had a short life
*sigh*.
take care Funny Cute!

i love your stuff, all eras. I'm vastly jealous of your talent and abilities ( think i've said that before. Google "vastly jealous"). I definitely enjoy the chnace to gobble up any of your work and consider t an investment to the the future of cartoonery!
I think multiples would be cool cuz i hate deciding among awesome things
ink 02 pls
BRONCHITIS SUCKS BALLS. I've only had it once- you poor thing! CRY!
All of these drawings are so stylish and cool Katievolution!
Sell them inks! You deserve it! And so do yer fans!
I MISS YOU. Hey thanks for the link! You had a linkfest in this post!
Damn now your sick it's a love chain of germs on that side of the world. On a side note I really love the new comic it's just an amazing story, also it reminds me of Groo. Again thank you or this joy!!
Really thank you for commenting in my blog :) i feel ashamed that i did not recognized you blog earlier, your drawings are full of cute, awsome and win *_* linked immedeatly!
btw. I absolutly love the last ink drawings, they are so very fluid *_* *saves*
Inspirational!
your work are very impresive! i love ren & stimpy! and you are soo pretty
kisses from argentina!
I would totally buy some ink-type artwork! I especially like the second one with the girl and the feather hat.
Get well! I've had bronchitis a few times in my life = Phlegm Mountain!
Katie! Those are my favorite scenes from Ren Seeks Help! I had no idea that you did them. :D
At first get well soon.
Second. I sure would buy some of youre drawings (if I had the money for it). I would hang it somewhere as a reminder that I need to work hard to get somewhere. That would be a motivation if I get frustrated or something. So it would definitely would word the price.
Really great artwork. Love the layouts!
Thanks everyone!! I'm starting to feel better. And thanks for the comments and ideas...I think I'm going to put up the inks on eBay in bunches, plus have a couple individual drawings for sale as well for people who don't want to pay for 5 or 6 drawings together.
Dustin- the bucktoothed girl is my favorite, too! Thanks! :)
Trevor- The book is still happening (I think)! I just need to get responsible and actually finish it. I'm still excited about it though, so hopefully it'll happen eventually!
ChrisL- Thanks! I thought about what you said about Wtsy, but I sort of rely on the auction to price my drawings. I really have no idea how to price things, so I feel more comfortable letting the people who are buying it decide. It's kind of more exciting that way too! If I ever sell actual products though, like prints or postcards, I'd love to use a site like Etsy.
Marco- Wow, thanks!! I'm flattered! :D
Custom Coaster- Groo rules!! It's definitely a big influence on Skadi!
Mitch K- Thanks!! I have to stress though that without the help of John and Fred, my scenes would have looked pretty bad!
Check back soon guys!
I don't know what you'd price them but packs of 4-5 would be cool. Like maybe one cleaned up drawing and 2-3 pages of sketches?
I wish commissions were possible! oh well...
I hope the book does happen too!
Katie:
What qualifies those girls in "Altruists" as 'super generic'?
- trevor.
Hey Katie, I hope you're feeling much better now. And this is amazing stuff!!! This, and the epic ForestLand post are the real treasure chests of cartoon goodness. Please don't apologize, or hesitate to post the old drawings, because it's fascinating to observe how your style changed and evolved through the years.
Those inks look fabulous! They should sell on eBay like hotcakes.
R&S layouts are very impressive! I didn't know you worked on these particular episodes and scenes. And I absolutely love the Weird Al video, in fact I studied it last month frame-by-frame, and it blew me away with the inventive designs and poses.
Good luck with the book! Have you got any tentative date of publishing? I remember you used to plan it for this year's SD Comic Con, but I guess that's a too close deadline now.
Hey get well Katie, too much damn plague going around!
I love these layouts, i would definitly buy if i had the means.
cool post, uncool sickness (had bronchitis as a kid). meanwhile: is it easier to sell the inks stuff from the blog, using paypal?
Ben- I have really been thinking hard about commissions lately...I kind of want to do them but I'd have to have pretty strict rules about what I will and won't draw. I don't wanna look like a prima donna though so I'm still figuring it out! Thanks so much for your interest though! I'm flattered! :)
Trevor- Interesting question!! Actually, I think I might answer that in a new post...look for it soon, ok?
Hammerson- Aw shucks, thanks for the kind words! :) Nope, no date set for the book yet...you're right, I wanted to sell the book at the con, along with some girlfriends who also had stuff to sell. But even though we reserved a booth super early they canned us! The nerve!
Jack- Hmm, not a bad idea...definitely more people would see them if I sold them directly on my blog. I'm not that comfortable with setting a price for them, though. I've also noticed that drawings I prefer, and would thus price higher, are less popular with buyers whereas drawings I don't care much about go for more. So the auction thing on eBay makes that all easier for me. :) Thanks for the suggestion though!
Check back Wednesday for a new post!
Hey Katie,
Thanks fer your nice note! YOUR work is some of the best I have ever seen, ever! So carefree and fun. I wish I had an ounce of your spontaneity! Get well soon so you can get back to entertaining us! :)
CJ
I'm sorry about you being sick, Katie! Bronchitis is not fun - left unchecked, it can morph into pneumonia.
Anyhow, I really really really like the last sketch - the one that looks like a retro flight attendant. If it's on E-Bay with a "Buy It Now" options, I'll buy it. If you want to sell that sketch to me, let me know.
